Statistical Observation for Admitted Patients During the Past 4 years and 6 months at Ped. Dept.

Abstract
|
|
|
Author has observed all pediatric patients, classified by disease, annual, season, sex, age, who were admitted to the Dept. of Ped. Woo Sok Hospital, College of Medicine, Korea University during the years from Jan._ 1969 to June 1973.. The results were revealed as follows;
1. Total number of patients were 2391, of which 1540 were male, 64.41% and 851 were female 35.59 %, Male to Female ratio was 1.8:1.
2. On age distribution, Infancy aged group were the most frequent group consisting of 1145 cases .(47.89%), of which Infancy proper were 738 cases(30.87%) and the adolescent aged group were 3.6% (86 cases), which held the least percentage.
3. In classifying the cases by season: 673 cases (28.15%) happened in Summer, 629 cases(26.31%) in Spring, 583 cases(24.38%) in Fall and 506 cases(21.16%) in Winter.
C No significant variations by annual distribution.
5. In classifying the disease: Infections and parasitic diseases were the most frequent, 785 cases (52.83%). The respiratory tract diseases, 710 cases(29.69%) and ill defined condition(convulsion, meningismus), 262 cases(10.96%) in the order of frequency.
6 Among the infectious and parasitic disease group, gastrointestinal infectious disease was the most frequent, 364 cases(15.22%), tuberculosis 174 cases(7.28%) and viral diseases 85 cases(3.55%) in the order of frequency.
=7. Among the respiratory tract diseases, acute respiratory : infection was the most frequent, 323 cases(13.51%) and pneumonia 317 cases(13.25%) in order of frequency.
.8 Among the ill defined condition, the convulsion was the most frequent 247 cases(10.33%), { meningismus 15 cases(0.63%)
